Dave Congratulations to the lads on Saturday's victory. All the best in the coming fixtures . . . Cheers, Tom (In New Jersey USA) (15th February)
Happy 21st Brian (Griff) from all your family and pals from down Essex way. Thanks also to the club and staff on Saturday 6th February, unfortunately the result wasnt so kind, for a very friendly welcome. Cheers again. (great pint and a great meat and potato pie by the way) Stephen Petchey (9th February)
There are several people who are a few weeks behind with their Bonus Ball payments. It is essential that these moneys are paid as soon as possible to help with the club's finances after several frozen weeks. I'll be at Garforth on Saturday collecting - please dig deep! It's all for the good of the club. Cheers Alan Dobson (27th January)
Congratulations to Foxy on the nomination for the FA Grounds man of the yearVery much deserved for all your (and your helpers) hard work cosseting, coaxing, and protecting the pitch. Fingers crossed and good luck, hope you win Robyn Jones (26th January)
Hi Dave May we take this opportunity to wish all associated with T.F.C., the very best of Christmas wishes and a successful and enjoyable New Year. Chas & Shirl (22nd December)
Merry Christmas to all at TFC Maralyn and Clive (21st December)
As the chairman has started a 'love the referees' period of the season, I felt the urge to add my six pennyworth to the discussion/debate. We bestow our scarf of favour on the team of our choice. We pay our dues and attend, whenever humanly and economically possible, in all climatic conditions, in the vain attempt to ensure that our strained voice boxes provide the stimulus for our 'chosen ones' to achieve what we can't, can no longer or never could achieve.
And Then!!!!!!!!! Cometh the Man in Black. The only man who can, without effort, kick our fervour and emotions around the hallowed terraces. Yes they have a difficult job to please everyone in the ground that day. Yes without them there would be no game at all. Would our employers forgive such equivalent decisions as we witness on such a regular basis. A buffoon is a buffoon ,in any theatre of life, and so deserves to be berated for not being as proficient as we who judge.
How anything as important as Saturdays pilgrimage can be entrusted to one mans 'matter of opinion', certainly defies belief.....and always has. Anyone capable of inciting everything from lauded praise to riotous civil war must know the consequences of his decisions. I won't therefore cease from my occasional lack of civility towards the 'Men in Black' (it makes me feel better). Perhaps a good thing my boots have long since faded to dust as I fear my football days may well have been spent more in the confines of an early bath than on the green fields of England. Chas and Shirl (20th November)
We here a great deal these days of how referee's and their assistants (nee linesmen, although rarely and mostly at the wrong time) should be shown, 'RESPECT', which in the most part I wholly agree with. It's a tough job out there and they are human with all the frailties and flaws that endows them with, however I do feel that this season has demonstrated a general decline in the overall standard which on more than one occasion has had a direct effect on the outcome of the match. Of course this is prevalent at all levels of the game, the most recent being the France, Republic of Ireland match being an ultimate example and generally speaking the higher the level of football the less errors are made, so perhaps we should expect and accept the 9 or 10 glaringly wrong decisions we are now seeing each match. The matches I've watched this season certainly fit this category but I do accept that some of our player's behaviour and subsequent dismissals have been their own doing but some decisions defy logic and certainly judgement. Perhaps the worse thing that plays on the fans minds is the INCONSISTENCY of the men in black, some book players for involuntarily breaking wind yet others ignore quite blatant attempts of serious GBH.
I feel for the fans knowing all to well that heat of the moment abuse and criticism gets us nowhere and goes unheeded and tell myself that for all the decisions that go against us then statistically thing must even out and we'll get the same number of ludicrous decisions awarded in our favour; but at the moment it just seems the football gods are not looking at us - time for a sacrificial offering….or perhaps a complaint that certain members of the refereeing fraternity are not fit enough, that seems the only thing to stir them into action.
So in future I will moderate my basic Anglo Saxon responses to the refereeing faults and take the moral high ground where I hope our players will join me and take heed of my shining example of self censorship. Clive Woodford (Father of Simon) (20th November)
The President has spoken........The Chairman has heeded.......Henceforth criticism of any official, be it in the middle or on the line will not be heard from the lips of the Chairman on match-days, hopefully setting an example of improved behaviour to our fantastic supporters. Maybe the players could try this out as well! Best Wishes, Tom the Chair. (16th November)
