Thursday 19th June     NEWS FROM THE DRESSING ROOM
Manager Ged Kielty keeps you all in touch with what's going on . . . .
I hope that you are all enjoying the summer break and looking forward to the start of season 2008/2009 in the Unibond League Division One. Although it is mid season, there is still news to report.

Firstly, congratulations must go to Dave Murray who picked up the Best Programme award at the North West Counties end of season ceremony at the weekend. I'm not too sure if Dave was expecting it, but it's nice that his hard work is recognised. The ceremony was a brilliant night which I thoroughly enjoyed. The league officials should be commended for the arranging of the night, as everything was right, the venue, food, comedian, singers, disco etc. Trafford FC had twenty representatives at the event and I know they enjoyed themselves. Needless to say we were the rowdiest tables.

At the above event, I picked up the Manager Of The Year award for the Vodkat North West Counties Division One which I was ecstatic to receive. It is an achievement not only for myself, but for Southy and Coyney who have been tremendous all year. Luckily I didn't have to make a speech but they would have been the first people I would have thanked. Aside from the management team, it is also an achievement for the club as a whole, whether you are a player, board member or a fan. It's a fitting end to a tremendous year.

Andy Lundy and Lee Southwood received a mention in the Manchester Evening News a couple of weeks back. The paper wrote a piece on the successes of the non- league season and the two of them deservedly featured.

I am pleased to appoint Scott Hardie as the new manager for the Reserve Team. Scott impressed me from the minute I met him and should be an asset to the club. During our meetings, Scotts' enthusiasm and organisational skills shone through which are certainly required in addition to the other pre requisite skills.
I wish him luck for a successful year. The reserves had a difficult season just gone, and I hope that Scott is able to change that, he is already working very hard arranging pre season games and getting things in place for when the players return.

The players commence pre season training on 3rd July to get themselves in shape for the season ahead. They all look after themselves in mid season as they have a keen interest in sport/fitness in general, so they shouldn't find the sessions a problem. Hopefully we will welcome back some players who struggled to feature as much as we would have liked last year due to injury, players like Wes Wilkinson, Kev Elvin, Sean Smith and of course Max Kisseh. They'll be like four quality signings and there will also be a Trafford favourite returning who should excite you. I'll leave you guessing! Games have been arranged which will provide stern tests for us and I hope that you come along and show your support. We also have a trip to Llandudno Town the weekend before the season starts. The club will be arranging a coach so make sure you book your place. If you remember, the weekend before last season started we travelled to North Wales to Connahs Quay and had a fantastic day where players, board members and fans all mixed and had a good time. Harry Winter is still telling people about his goal against Connahs Quay, a year on!

The club are currently looking for sponsors for next year, including a main sponsor. If you know of any person or company who would like to get financially involved then please let the club know. Sponsorship is important to allow the club to function successfully, so please get your thinking caps on.   Enjoy the rest of the summer and I hope to see you all soon.

Monday 16th June      NEWS FROM THE VODKAT LEAGUE AGM
Taken from the Vodkat League website . . . .
The Vodkat League AGM was held at the De Vere Hotel, St David's Park, Ewolle, near Chester on Saturday. A summary of the main issues discussed and agreed are given below.
From the 2008-09 season, the two divisions of the League will be known as the Premier Division and the First Division, in line with many other step 5/step 6 competitions around the country.
AFC Liverpool, Wigan Robin Park and Irlam FC were voted in as new members of the League and will compete in the Vodkat League Division One (previously Division Two) in season 2008-09.
Alsager Town have been relegated from the UniBond League Division One and will play in the Vodkat League Premier Division (previously Division One) in season 2008-09.
League Chairman Dave Tomlinson announced that, while it was the intention of the League Management Committee to work towards establishing 22 clubs in the Vodkat League Premier Division next season, due to some outstanding issues involving certain member clubs, the exact constitution of the Premier League and Division One could not be finalised on the day as originally intended. It is the Management Committee's aim to have the outstanding issues resolved and a final decision made by 28th June, although it is hoped that a decision can be made before that date.
